Crazy cheezy goodness

When I was looking at all those drive-in intermission film compilations last weekend, one of 'em featured a snippet of a trailer for a movie called Phantom of the Paradise .

I've since become fixated on seeing it. Check out this trailer and tell me--how could I not wanna behold such a spectacle??

Wouldn't be on my list of "must see before I die." It was painful just watching the 2 minute trailer. I wonder if this would fit into the "torture" category down at Guantonamo?

I know, I know..there's something WRONG with me. I have a fondness for the spectacularly bad.

It's actually a GREAT movie -- with a TERRIBLE trailer. You just have to take it in the context of the time in which it was made.

It's an early work by Brian De Palma, who went on to make Scarface, Carrie, The Untouchables, Mission Impossible, etc. It's EXTREMELY quirky, but very very entertaining. Has lots of devoted fans, as well. Check out http://www.swanarchives.org , for example.
